George Rixon & the Edinburgh Marathon 2005
On 12th June 2005, George Rixon, runner no. 6103, took part in the Edinburgh Marathon. His chosen charity for support is the Good News Hospital, Mandrotsara, Madagascar, also in memory of Jonathan Heisig.
The 9.00am start on a chilly morning was indicative of the challenge to come.
The sea front section added rain to the chilliness of the morning.
After 12 miles, George's calf muscle was complaining, but a visit to the First Aid post for treatment soon had him recovered to face the remaining miles. Fortunately the homebound section was eased by fine weather. Total time 4 hours 48 minutes.
